Project Brief :
Anti-Corruption Coalition Uganda (ACCU) intends to implement a 1 year project geared towards promoting good governance by fostering political accountability at the local government level. The project that will be implemented in partnership with the National Association of Women Organizations in Uganda (NAWOU) and will specifically be looking at enhancing women’s participation in political accountability for effective service delivery at local government level.
The initiative seeks to empower women leaders from local governments, community based groups and associations to be champions in upholding transparency and accountability especially among the leaders at the local government level in order to ensure good governance through effective delivery of services.
The primary beneficiaries of this initiative are the women councilors, the women leaders from the various community based groups and the women voters at large who are most vulnerable especially where political accountability is not a priority.
To achieve good governance, there is need to ensure that decision making processes are participatory, responsive, equitable and inclusive of all people despite their gender, race, religion and any other orientation. The project will largely employ a participatory approach in its implementation. The women and men trained from the different sub-counties in the entire district will therefore be directly involved in project implementation.

- To enhance the competence of women leaders to demand for and contribute to political accountability.
- To enhance citizens’ awareness and understanding of their rights and responsibilities toward ensuring political accountability and fight political related corruption tendencies.
