ACCU Trains Journalists on Corruption Reporting
Over 30 journalists and media practitioners on Wednesday 20th September 2023 benefitted from a training on Corruption Reporting organised by ACCU at Hotel Africana in Kampala. The one-day training exposed journalists from various media outlets including FM radio stations, TV stations, Print media and online news platforms to knowledge on the definition, forms, manifestations and effects of Corruption, the dynamics of their current operating environment, the legal framework on access to information in Uganda and their role in the fight against corruption, among other key topics. The participants acknowledged the importance of the training in increasing their understanding of corruption and accountability, as well as building their capacity in corruption reporting. The training was open to participants both from national-level (Kampala based) media outlets, as well as those operating in the upcountry regions of Busoga, Bunyoro and West Nile where ACCU is implementing the SCEAP project with support from the Royal Danish Embassy.
Some of the media houses that participated include; Daily Monitor, The New Vision, The Observer, Uganda Radio Network, The Albertine Journal, KFM/Dembe FM, CBS FM, Radio Simba, Prime Radio, UBC Star FM, UBC TV, Eye FM, Apex FM, R FM, Spice FM, Radio Pacis, and Arua One FM.
