PROJECT BACKGROUND:
ACCU is implementing a 2 year’s project titled “Deepening Democratic Governance in the Forestry and Wildlife Sectors” (DDGFW) with an overall objective of having “increased transparency, accountability, and responsiveness to forest and wildlife governance challenges”. The districts of implementation include; Bushenyi and Rubirizi in western Uganda. The project seeks to contribute to CSOs driven change towards inclusive conservation, and sustainable natural resource management, enhance civic space, and improve human well-being through advocacy, engagement with policymakers and networking, and by using a representative voice. The project advocates for increased participation of rights holders in the management of protected areas and decision-making process and having increased duty bearers' level of commitment and action towards good governance, community engagement, human rights approach, and participatory decision-making processes.
