Youth trained on citizen journalism and use of ict in corruption reporting
In January 2025, ACCU trained 90 youth from Kampala Metropolitan, Busoga, and West Nile regions in citizen journalism and the use of ICT to report corruption. The trainings deepened their understanding of access to information, the legal framework on the right to information, and practical digital tools for reporting and tracking corruption-related cases.
The youth learned how to identify corruption-related issues in their communities, create impactful content and effectively use platforms like WhatsApp, Facebook, TikTok, and X for reporting. They explored alternative avenues for accessing public information and the role of citizens in demanding transparency. The hands-on sessions equipped them with the skills to document and share credible stories, strengthening their role as active citizens.
The trainings were conducted under ACCU’s SYCEG project with support from the United Nations Democracy Fund.
